You can meet the god of the sea at Porto Vromi on Zakynthos. Located on the North-West coast of the island, there is a natural rock formation that displays the face of "Poseidon".
Greek Mythology
Poseidon (Ποσειδῶν), in ancient Greek religion, is the god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses. However, he is most commonly known modern day as the ruler of the oceans. Poseidon was a brother of Zeus, the god of the sky, and of Hades, god of the underworld. After the defeat of his father Cronus, the world was divided among his three sons; Zeus was given the sky, Hades the underworld, and Poseidon the sea, with the Earth and Mount Olympus belonging to all three. Poseidon's weapon and main symbol is the trident.
Poseidon is the protector of seafarers. When visiting the rock formation, it is said to be good luck to touch the "nose".
